Contraindications
Massage therapy may not be suitable for everyone. Contraindications to massage are circumstances where it is not suitable for a person to receive massage at that time. Please take the time to read these before you book your appointment.
Contraindications which require medical permission:
- Cardio vascular conditions (thrombosis, hypertension, hypotension, heart conditions)
- Any dysfunction of nervous system
- Recent operations
- Osteoporosis, Arthritis, Acute rheumatism
- Kidney infections
- Epilepsy
- Diabetes
- Asthma
- Cancer
Contraindications which restrict treatment:
- Fever
- Infectious diseases
- Under the influence of drugs, alcohol
- Recent operations or acute phase injuries
- Trapped/Pinched nerve
- Skin diseases
- Severe undiagnosed/unexplained pain
- Uncontrolled high blood pressure
Massage can be given but not over any areas affected by:
- Varicose veins
- Undiagnosed lumps or bumps
- Pregnancy
- Bruising, Cuts, Abrasions
- Sunburn
- Inflammation, including arthritis
